Teaches courses within the Transitional Occupational Therapy Doctorate (t-OTD), and PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences (PhD Rehab) degree programs.
As an adjunct professor at the University of Medical Sciences Arizona, Dr. Analyn M. Joens also practices as school-based occupational therapist, former special education specialist, fieldwork educator, capstone mentor, and entrepreneur. Her deep empathy for parents, teachers, and others who directly contribute to a child’s development has driven her passion for working with families and schools for many years. They inspired her professional focus on serving individuals with special needs and supporting families to achieve health and well-being.
She holds a doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy, a doctoral degree in Health Education, and a master’s degree in Special Education. Dr. Joens is active in and supports some committees, namely, AOTA Political Committee (AOTPAC), Council for the Accreditation for Educator Preparation (CAEP), National Educators Association (NEA), AZ Occupational Therapy Association (ArizOTA), and others. She authored and developed the Eight Senses Goal Setting Assistant (ESGSA), a novel web-based tool that assists parents in goal setting for their children with sensory issues.
